Numerous Events Planned Nov. 2 For Benson Veterans Day

BENSON – A number of events will take place in the Town of Benson this year for Veterans Day. Activities are planned throughout the day Saturday, November 2nd.

At 7:30am, the check-in begins for the Benson Parks & Rec Run For the Brave 5K. The 5K run begins at 9:00am with an awards ceremony at 10:30am. Parade applications are still being accepted and there is no entry fee.

A large crowd is anticipated for the Veterans Day Parade on Main Street starting at 11:00am. The parade will feature the Dunn Sudan Clowns.

A special program in the Grove begins at 12:15pm. Lunch will follow the program and center around the NC Whole Hog BBQ Cook-Off. Plates are $10 each and free for veterans.

There will be a Kid’s Zone in the Grove at 400 E. Main Street.

Southland Car Club will sponsor a Car and Motorcycle Show.

This year, there will be free tram rides from the Benson Singing Grove to see the Memorial Park at the Benson American Legion Building.

There will also be a chance to purchase a Memorial Brick for any veteran.

Bring a lawn chair and spend the day in Downtown Benson.
