Aaron Ralph Cobb, 74, of Pine Level, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 surrounded by his family at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Aaron was born in Johnston County on January 8, 1948 to the late Aaron Reddin Cobb and Bessie Inez Collins Cobb. In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his sisters, Inez Game, Doris Hill, Virginia Hill, and Betty Wolfe.
Ralph is survived by his sisters, Peggy Ashe of Kenly and Brenda Smith and husband Ken of Princeton, and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph proudly served his country in the US Army from 1968 – 1972. He served overseas in the Korean, Vietnam and Indochina Wars. He received several medals and badges including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.
After getting honorably discharged, he began working as a mechanic until retiring. He was a faithful member of Bakers Chapel Church in Smithfield. He enjoyed going to the mountains and watching old country westerns, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends.
The funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Gene Dewitt and Reverend Eddie Jordan officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton. The entombment will be held in Selma Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10:00am.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, or at Bakers Chapel Church in Smithfield.
