Benson, NC: Mr. Allen Vance (A.V.) Byrd, age 79, of Stillwater Drive passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Services will be 4:00PM Saturday- January 28, 2023 at the Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Officiating will be Rev. Pete Radford.
Mr. Byrd was born September 19, 1943 in Johnston County to the late Claude Sr. and Emma Pearl Norris Byrd. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Mr. Byrd was a retired brick mason as well as a cabinet maker. He loved reading his bible every day, listening to his gospel music and lived his life by the Word of the Lord.
Surviving includes his wife of 59 wonderful years, Joyce (Sue) Whitman Byrd; children, Connie W. Little and husband, Greg, Claudette McLeod and husband Terry, Doyle Byrd and wife Amy, Thelbert (Gene) Byrd and fiancé, Catrina Dowdy; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren as well as one brother, Claude Byrd, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:30PM – 3:30PM Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Prayers are appreciated during this time.
