Selma – Anne Whitaker Peedin, age 94, was born August 2, 1929, in Henderson County, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lola Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Peedin and her brother, Glenn Whitaker.
Anne was a registered nurse at Johnston Memorial Hospital for 41 years. She served as a member of the hospital Board of Commissioners for 10 years after her retirement in 1994. Anne was very involved in her community, as well as her church, Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pine Level Women’s Club for many years and was very involved in delivering Meals on Wheels on a weekly basis. Among her many interests, she enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Parrish Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. with Brad Thompson and Rev. Jimmy Boykin officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Kim Peedin of Raleigh; sister, Katherine Elgin and husband Fred of Penney Farms, Florida; sister-in-law, Wilma Baker of Pine Level; and many nieces and nephews.
