Aubrey Daniel Barker (Danny) – dedicated husband, daddy and PaPa – left his earthly home on July 17, 2022. Danny was born to Charlotte Smith and Bobby Barker on June 23, 1972 in Franklin, Virginia. He has an older brother, David Barker, who he loved dearly.
Danny attended Smithfield Selma High School where, at the age of fifteen, he met the love of his life – Carolyn Ruth Reardon. Carolyn and Danny dated for five years and then were married on April 4, 1992. Their first beautiful daughter, Aubree Danielle, was born in 1996 and then less than two years later they were blessed with their second beautiful daughter, Amanda Carol.
Danny adored his girls and raising them with Carolyn was his greatest joy. He took so much pride in watching them grow up and seeing them become caring adults. Aubree went on to marry Caleb Freeman Smith and Amanda married Trevor Yates Bryant. Aubree gave birth to Carolyn and Danny’s first grandchild, Ember Rayne Smith and Amanda gave birth to their second grandchild, Jonathan Daniel Bryant. Danny was so looking forward to the upcoming birth of his third grandchild, Everleigh Rae Bryant.
Danny was the proudest PaPa and absolutely doted on his grandbabies. He made up quirky songs that he would sing to them. They were his pride, his joy and his world. Danny was so proud of his girls for being such wonderful mothers – following in their own mother’s footsteps.
Danny was a jovial man – always making those around him laugh. It was that gift of gab and his warm personality that earned him many loyal friendships over the years. Additional surviving family members are his sister-in-law Kim Price, his brother-in-law, Keith Reardon, his mother-in-law, Linda Reardon and several nieces and nephews who referred to him as Uncle D. He will be profoundly missed by so many people.
Danny enjoyed many hobbies over the years including golf, fishing, paintball and listening to Travis Tritt music. He was a loyal employee as a Superintendent for CORE Building Company out of Garner, NC.
Danny is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Carol Barbour who played such an important part in Danny’s life. He is also preceded in death by his friend and father-in-law, Howard Roland Reardon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 in Wilson’s Mills Church of God. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.
Rest in peace Danny Barker. You may be gone from our sight but you will never be gone from our hearts.
