Barbara Benson Phillips

Barbara Benson Phillips

Barbara Benson Phillips, age 90, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehab in Smithfield. Born November 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William and Mazie Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Phillips.

Barbara was a charter member of West Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, where she faithfully sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and lovingly served alongside her husband as a deacon’s wife. A devoted homemaker, Barbara found great joy in caring for her family, including her mother and her in-laws. She had a servant’s heart and truly cherished her role as a caretaker. Barbara loved feeding the birds, and her home and yard were always kept beautifully immaculate. Every Sunday, she lovingly prepared lunch for her family, always making everyone’s favorite dishes. Though many knew her affectionately as “Owen’s wife,” Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jeff Phillips and wife, Tiny; grandchildren, Brooks Phillips and wife, Jennifer, and Ethan Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Nora and Eli Phillips and their baby sister coming soon.
