Bedford “Bud” Elijah Williams

Bedford “Bud” Elijah Williams, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday May 1, 2026 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on February 3, 1946 to the late Royster Almond Williams and Emma Cox Williams. In addition to his father and mother, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Gale Benson Williams; sisters, Gertrude Messer and Ruth Price.
A graveside service will be held in Hills of The Neuse Memory Gardens on Monday May 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
He is survived by his son, Michael Williams of Smithfield; daughter, Amanda Gavlak and husband Mark of Smithfield; brother, AR Williams; sisters, Margaret Lee of Goldsboro, Clara Mclean of Angier; grandchildren, Brayden Williams, Ava Kate Williams, Anna Gavlak; numerous special nieces and nephews; special friend, “Toby”.
Bud was a United States Army Veteran and often talked with his family about his travels during his time in the service. He spent many of his working years servicing burial vaults for Arnold Wilbert Corporation and farming. When not working, Bud enjoyed the simple things in life such as fishing.
