Betty Lee Young

Benson, NC: Mrs. Betty Lee Young, age 90, of NC Hwy 50 South, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 24, 202,6 in the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Darren Brisco. Burial will follow in the Morgan-Wood Family Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Young was born on October 17, 1935, in Johnston County to the late Hugh and Lula Morgan Young. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Lennis Young, Ed Young, John Lewis Young, Pauline Phillips, and Fannie Barefoot. She retired from the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Mrs. Young was a life-long member of Unity Advent Christian Church in Benson. Betty was a strong Christian woman that loved her family as well as her Unity Church family above all else. She was a proud member of the Meadow class of 1954 and enjoyed the many reunions with her classmates. She lived independently for years and carried herself with an unassuming strength. Betty was blessed to have recently celebrated her 90th birthday at Golden Corral, surrounded and celebrated by her family and friends.

Mrs. Young is survived by her nephew, Joseph Barefoot, and wife, Faye; niece, Geraldine Gilliam; and several great-nieces and nephews.
