Bonnie Allen Strickland

Newton Grove, NC: Mrs. Bonnie Allen Strickland, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield NC, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM-4:45PM, Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will follow at 5:00PM in the Funeral Chapel. Pastor Randy Simmons will officiate. Burial will follow in Hills of The Memory Gardens in Smithfield, NC.

Mrs. Strickland was born on July 23, 1942 in Johnston County, NC, to the late Kermith Lee and Lydia Adams Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Earl Strickland, son, Keith Earl Strickland, and her brother, Ronald Lee Allen. Her passion was working with inmates at the Johnston County Detention Center where she served as Jail Administrator. She retired from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain with over 25 years of service. In addition to working, she enjoyed reading, spending time on her farm, and spent some of her happiest days at Surf City.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Strickland Lockamy and husband, Shannon; granddaughter, Peri Strickand; great-granddaughter, Audrina Walden; brother, Gary Allen and wife, Sandra; several nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and are receiving friends at other times at the home.
