Booker T Dawkins, Jr.

Booker T. Dawkins, Jr. 78, of Willow Springs, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield. Born November 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Booker T. Dawkins, Sr. and Esther Ross Dawkins. In addition to his parents, Booker is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Belle Ross Dawkins; and by his children, Angela Ross, Jason Dawkins, and Shirley Ross.

Booker was the oldest of 9 children. He graduated from North Carolina A&T University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Physics and from Central Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Business. Booker proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married to the love of his life, Sally for over 50 years before her passing in 2024. Booker retired from NASA, where he worked as an engineer. Booker was a kind Christian man who took care of everyone. He was a loving and caring father, and will be greatly missed.

Booker is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Dawkins; and extended family members. Per his wishes, there will be no formal services. Online condolences can be made at www.parrishfh.com.
