Benson, NC: Mrs. Brenda Gail Stephenson Harper, age 75, of West Church Street passed onto her Heavenly Home on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Mrs. Harper was born on March 3, 1949 in Harnett County to the late Thylmor Harrison and Bessie Blackman Stephenson of Benson. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Itha Byrd, Ollie Abbate, Donnie McLeod, Shirley Elliot, Shelby Cobb, Peggy Stetler, and one brother, Tommy Stephenson. Mrs. Harper worked for Roses store for 17 years and worked for the Town of Benson, where she retired after almost 20 years. She and her family were involved in Gospel Music for many years. Mrs. Harper’s husband owned a recording studio and her and her sisters recorded many songs together. She loved to sing at her church, Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she has been a member since 1983. Mrs. Harper loved God with all of her heart, loved her family, and her friends.
Surviving includes her husband of 54 years, Manford Harper; daughter, Julie Gail Harper of the home; sisters, Carolyn Champion, Judy Bryd, and Cherie Hoyer; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, and other times at the home.
