Brenda Joyce Strickland Baldwin, 80, passed away at UNC Johnston Health Care on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Brenda was born on January 8, 1943 in Durham County to the late Bernice Lemae Strickland and Sally Jane Worley Strickland Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Steiner Arthur “Junior” Baldwin, Jr., brother-in-law, Ray Mozingo and a sister, Barbara Ann “Peggy” Strickland.
Brenda was a hair stylist for over 60 years, working with her mother until her mother’s passing. She continued operating her shop until she retired in December of 2022. She was devoted to her mother and helped her throughout the years with a very nurturing spirit.
Brenda attended Princeton Church of God. She was well known for her homemade pimento cheese and chicken salad. Most precious to her was the love she had for her family and friends. She always enjoyed everyone’s company. Brenda loved her grandsons dearly and really enjoyed preparing their favorite macaroni and cheese.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Van and Tacara Baldwin of Cross Junction, VA; grandsons, Coby and Carson Baldwin; sisters, Dorothy Mozingo of Clayton, Ava Langley of Cary, Debra McCumber (Jeff) of Goldsboro; nieces and nephews, Michelle Mozingo, Brian Mozingo, Will Langley (Suzanne), Tina Langley Pauluzzi (Patrick), Jeffery McCumber (Andrea), Zachary McCumber and Wendy Baldwin Keech.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations of Princeton.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Les Woodard officiating. The burial will be in Princeton Cemetery after the service.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Princeton Church of God Building Fund, PO Box 546, Princeton, NC 27569.
