Brinda Carel Pearce, 78, of Smithfield, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Born September 30, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Moselle Johnson.

Brinda dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working as a lab technician for more than three decades. She spent 12 years at Johnston Memorial Hospital and 17 years working alongside Dr. Woodrow Batten. In addition, she served her community by working part-time at the local health department and Horizon Family Medicine. Her commitment, skill, and compassion were evident to all who had the privilege of working with her.

Outside of her career, Brinda found her greatest joy in spending time with her husband, Joe. Together, they loved traveling, especially riding their motorcycle to the mountains. Brinda also had a deep love for fishing and could often be found casting a line throughout the mountains of North Carolina, enjoying both freshwater and saltwater fishing.

Brinda will lie in state on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, at Parrish Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Knollwood Cemetery.

Brinda is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Pearce; sister, Phyllis Godwin; and nephew, Jay (Debbie).
