Benson, NC: Mrs. Callie Marie Overbee Roberts, age 89, of Federal Road, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Friday, January 7, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Burial will follow in the D.A. Overbee Family Cemetery in the Brogden Community.
Mrs. Roberts was born on September 17, 1932 in Johnston County, NC to the late Eugene and Addie Pittman Overbee. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Danford “J.D.” Roberts, Sr., daughter-in-law, Vickie Byrd Roberts, brothers, Alvin Overbee, Donald Overbee, J.C. Overbee, sisters, Ione Blackman and Mary Parrish. Mrs. Roberts was a retired farmer, homemaker, and for many years she worked with Elevation Produce. Her greatest loves in her life were her Lord, her family, her farm, and providing meals for anyone to enjoy on Sunday’s.
Surviving include her daughters, Shirley R. Byrd and husband, Charlie, and Mattie R. Wood and husband, Tony; sons, John Danford Roberts, Jr., Neil Richard Roberts and wife, Tracy, and Johnny Wayne Roberts and special friend, Teresa; grandchildren, Jonathan Roberts and wife, Sandy, Jason Roberts and wife, Meagan, Candace Vann and husband, Jason, Allen Roberts and wife, Melissa, and Cory Wayne Roberts; great-grandchildren, Andrew Roberts, Adley Vann, Mia Gracelyn Roberts, Aiden Vann, and Brianna Bonds; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home on Federal Road.
