Four Oaks – Carlton Dwight Exum, age 75, passed away Thursday May 4, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Silver Spring’s, MD on July 29, 1947 to the late James Vernon Exum and Thelma Garner Exum. In addition to his mother and father, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Exum and a brother, Jerry Wayne Exum.
No formal services will be held at this time in accordance with Mr. Exum’s wishes. He will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh with his wife at a later date.
He is survived by daughters, Karie Exum of Smithfield; Amanda Dudley and husband Kevin of Newport; brother, Donald Exum Sr. of Gaffney, SC; sisters, Wanda E. Moore of Four Oak’s and Deborah Rogers of Zebulon; grandchildren, Melissa Stevens, Kayla Dudley Shane Dudley and Olivia Exum; great grandchildren, Hannah Dashiell, Hazel Stevens and Jada Dudley and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Exum was a United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
