Birth Date: 07/02/1964
Deceased Date: 03/17/2025
Carol Roberts Harper peacefully joined her husband, Tommy, in heaven on his birthday, March 17. In her final hours she was surrounded by family and friends.
Carol’s first and most rewarding career was being a wife, mother, and Gramma/Gammie to her 9 grandchildren. The foundation of her marriage to Tommy allowed Carol to continue to raise her 3 teenage children to be well respected members of their communities. What great role models she and Tommy were. Her undying support of her children was witnessed by many in their home or on the ballfield; and is reflected in the parents they are today.
Her second career was working in several capacities with the children of Johnston County Schools at Selma Elementary. She was a beloved asset at that school for 28 years. Besides working in the classroom, workroom, or driving a bus, Carol could be found emceeing the talent show, organizing the spelling bee, or coordinating the end of year awards.
Another career for Carol was her volunteer work. She spent many hours on the board of the Selma Pool, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, ushering at the Neuse Little Theater and for many organizations in her beloved summer home in Old Forge, New York.
Carol is survived by her three children
Thomas Harper Jr. (Megan), Jennifer Johnson (Dustin), Adam Harper (Christin) and her 9 apples of her eye; Lyla, Rodney, Gentry, Mattie Jo, Blake, Annalyn, Tucker, Joshua and Bradley.
She is also survived by her siblings; Cynthia Johnson, Peter Roberts (Kathy), Paul Roberts (Denise), Daniel Roberts, Nancy Stevens (Butch), Susan Knop, Judy Ehrensbeck (Fred), Stephen Roberts (Meta). And Tommy’s siblings; Bruce Harper (Tonya), Scott Harper (Cynthia), Timmy Harper (Katie), Michael Harper (Kim) and Greg Harper (Rose). Dean Worley (Neva) and Lynn Matthews (Terry). And several nieces and nephews.
Carol is predeceased by her husband, Tommy, her parents Richard and Barbara Roberts, and her in-laws James “JB” Harper and Josephine Phillips.
