Carolyn Jean Baker Edwards, age 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 29, 2026, at her home in Smithfield. Born on September 18, 1947, in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late James Baker and Lela Waddell Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Jimmy Edwards; and her brothers, Tony Baker and James Baker Jr.

Carolyn was a faithful member of Lee’s Union Advent Christian Church for many years. She was a creative and talented woman who could craft almost anything. She enjoyed watching game shows and spending time with her friends at Bojangles. Above all, she loved her family and took great joy in caring for them. Carolyn also cherished trips to the beach and the mountains with her husband and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hills of Neuse Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Tant of Archer Lodge, Tammy Lee (Rufus) of Four Oaks, and Tori Edwards of Smithfield; her sister, Teresa Jones (Rudolph) of Selma; and her grandchildren, Brandy Edwards, Courtney Parrish, Tiffany Tant, Samantha Miller, Ashley Dickens, Stephanie Allen, Hunter Edwards, Ethan Chambers and her sister-in-law, Sandy Davis. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
