Carolyn Capps Parrish peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the age of 78. Carolyn was born on August 4, 1946 in Johnston County to the late John Isaac and Mildred Davis Capps. She was an avid NC State fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, B. Charles Parrish, her son, Jeff Parrish, her brothers, Joseph Lynwood “Linky” Capps, Billy Edward “Eddie” Capps, and sister, Patricia Lorine Cooper.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy; grandchildren, Blane, Amber, and Eli; great grandchildren, Liam and Carsyn; sister, Betty Moye; son in law, Scott Jernigan; daughter in law, Mandy Parrish; granddaughter in law and special caregiver, Haley; and grandpup, Ollie.
A graveside service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 3:00pm at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Carolyn will lie in state at Parrish Funeral Home on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for those that cannot attend the service. Casual attire or come decked out in your red and black to honor Carolyn’s love for the NC State Wolfpack.
Due to her allergies, Carolyn requested no flowers, but instead memorial contributions can be used to make memories with your family on a vacation or just spending quality time together or can be made to Rev. Joe B. Jones, Post Office Box 871, Clayton, NC 27520. Also, in lieu of flowers, the family is going to offer time during the service for guests to speak if they would like to prepare something in advance.
Finally, Amy and Blane would like to thank Haley Parrish for her outstanding caregiving these past few months and 3HC and their wonderful nurse, Sarah K, and aide, Kayla. Also, they would like to thank the doctors and staff at Clayton Internal Medicine and Johnston Health Cancer and Oncology Center for their many years of care and support.
