Charles Eugene Godwin, 54, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Born in Chatham County on February 14, 1968, he was the son of Carolyn Talton and the late John A. Godwin, Sr.
Charles will be remembered as a hard worker. For many years, Charles was a superintendent with Barnhill Contracting Company. He most recently worked at NC Golf Carts Plus on Highway 42. Often times on Sundays, Charles could be found sitting in front of the TV watching the NASCAR race and listening to country music. Charles loved going down to the beach, enjoying the salty air, listening and dancing to beach music and with a fishing rod in hand.
Charles would always make time for his family. Charles loved going outside, throwing baseball or Frisbee, or being down out the beach spending time with his family. Charles will be remembered as a loving father, son, and brother.
A graveside service to celebrate Charles’ life will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in the Kenly Cemetery at 2:15 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Kenly Funeral Service.
In addition to his mother, Charles is survived by his children, Brice Godwin and Brooke Godwin; brothers, John A. Godwin, Jr. and wife, Sandy, and Kenneth Godwin; nieces, Anna Godwin, Maggie Godwin, Maegan Godwin, and Taylor Parrish; and special K-9 friend, Milly.
