Charles “Ray” Lee, age 75, of Goldsboro, NC and formerly of Smithfield, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Ray is preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Gail Lee; mother, Hilda Wiggins; sisters, Susie Barefoot and Darlene Johnson and brother, Billy Lee.
Born August 6, 1949 in Johnston County, NC, Ray was a son of the late Hilda Wiggins. He married his beloved wife, Margaret Lee (née Williams) in January 1969. The couple made a home in Smithfield, eventually welcoming three daughters and a son. Ray worked for Arnold Wilbert Corporation of Goldsboro and retired in 2011 after thirty years of loyal service. During his retirement, he found the greatest joy in his family, spending time with his wife and raising goats. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, uncle and friend, who will be dearly missed.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret; daughters, Shelby (John) Allan of Clayton and Linda (Morris) Beddingfield of Atlantic Beach; and son, David (Michelle) Lee of Kenly; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where Ray was an active member, on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ray’s memory to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3162 Harper House Road Four Oaks, NC, 27524.
