Christopher Charles Layman

Christopher Charles Layman, 63, of Willow Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Born May 6, 1963, in Green Castle, Indiana, he was the son of the late Charles Layman and Peggy Waggoner Layman.
Christopher was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a gifted musician whose passion for music was evident throughout his life. He played the drums and guitar and loved to sing, sharing his talent and enthusiasm with those around him. An adventurous spirit, Christopher worked as a scuba diving instructor and spent many years living in Maui, Hawaii. His dedication to the diving community was recognized when he received his 35-Year PADI Instructor Certificate, a testament to his commitment and expertise. Known for his uncanny ability to find an octopus on nearly every dive, Christopher brought curiosity and excitement to every underwater adventure. He also enjoyed skateboarding, riding dirt bikes, and spending time riding and working on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Christopher was remarkably handy and possessed a natural talent for fixing just about anything. He had a special love for his pets, his bird, Sunshine, and his dog, Dobby, who brought him great joy and companionship. His adventurous spirit, resourcefulness, warmth, and love for his family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Millie Layman; daughters, Kela Layman, Brenna Mitchiner, and Jackie Mitchiner; brothers, Gregg Layman (Robin); grandchildren, Zoey and Carter; as well as extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Flowers are welcome and can be sent to the family home at 34 Cross Ridge Drive, Willow Springs, NC 27592. Online condolences can be made at www.parrishfh.com.
