Deceased Date: 03/24/2025
Craig Eugene Johnson, age 64, gained his angel wings on Mar 24, 2025 at the Durham VA in Durham, NC after complications related to a brief but brutal battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. He fought valiantly until the bitter end, always hoping that he would come back home one more time.
Craig was born on Friday, Jan 13, 1961 in Prince George’s County, Suitland, MD to Wilma Gray Johnson and the late Harold Eugene Johnson.
He proudly joined the United States Air Force shortly after high school graduation and enjoyed a successful career in the role of staff sergeant as an aircraft armament technician, traveling the world and participating in protecting our freedom by serving in campaigns such as Desert Shield/Storm. Upon his return home, he continued working hard in various construction/heavy machinery roles until his retirement due to health reasons.
Anyone that knew Craig knew his strong work ethic, love of family and friends, quick wit, ability to fix just about everything, joy at getting a good deal (on anything) and his joy in making someone else smile or laugh. He always requested to have a bowl of candy with him at every hospitalization so that the nurses would stop by to see him and get some candy, giving him the chance to flirt with the maximum number of ladies.
He is preceded in death by his father (Harold Eugene Johnson) and his wife (Tammy Ann Johnson). He leaves behind to mourn this loss his mother (Wilma Lamberth and husband Tom), three children (Miranda Young, Nichole Johnson and Charles Johnson), and his sister (Kim Montgomery and husband James), three grandchildren (Dakota Young and family, Alexis Young and Hunter Young), one nephew (Alex Montgomery), one step-daughter (Liz Babb) and two step-grandchildren (Dorothy and Anthony Bennette).
The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday, 29-Mar-2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to celebrate his life. Pastor James Cole will oversee his funeral service on Sunday, 30-Mar-2025 at 2 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home with interment and final earthly goodbyes at Hood’s Grove Church, 677 Hood’s Grove Church Road, Newton Grove.
Please keep his family in your prayers as they try to learn to navigate this earth without his comforting presence.
