Danny Clifton Overby

Danny Clifton Overby, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born June 17, 1951, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Jasper and Ileen Overby.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Overby; his brother, Keith Overby; and his sister, Evelyn Pollard.

Danny enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially football, basketball, and baseball. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Price Cemetery in Selma, NC.

Danny is survived by his sons, Johnathan Overby of Selma, and Timothy Overby and wife Michelle of Princeton; daughters, Amy Friedl and husband James, and Marcie Godfrey; grandchildren, Austin Overby, Kalee Overby, Kadence Overby, Dalton Overby, Zoe Friedl, and Jacob Friedl, Ivy Friedl, McKenzie Godfrey, Savanna Lee, and Rylan Lee.
