David Richard Polk

David Richard Polk, age 76, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was born on March 13, 1950, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Rufus R. Polk and Kathleen Foster Polk.

David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the military, he had the opportunity to travel and see much of the world. Following his military service, David began a career as a commercial truck driver, allowing him to continue his love of travel while working across the United States.

David was a simple man who was always calm and collected. He had a deep love for animals, but most importantly, he cherished his sister, Aerial. In his later years, one of his favorite pastimes was riding his bicycle along the Neuse River in Smithfield.

David is survived by his loving sister, Aerial Polk Stanford of Wauchula, Florida.

In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
