David Thompson Laurance, 83, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday January 1, 2025. Mr. Laurance was born July 3, 1941 in Douglas County, Oregon to the late Kenneth Cecil and Lillian Margaret Thompson Laurance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Ann Laurance; brothers, Craig Laurance and Plin Laurance; and sister, Christine Schrock.
Mr. Laurance was a geophysicist, having earned his education at Oregon State and the University of Oregon. He was a self-made business man specializing in oil and gas exploration. Mr. Laurance was a member of Mensa, intellectually generous, and he loved helping people. Most of all, he adored his family and the feline member of their family named Honey Butterscotch. He loved his wife Cherri so much that they were relocating and remodeling Cherri’s childhood home in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Cherri Joette Creech-Laurance of 14 years; son, David C. Laurance of Portland, OR; son, Mark T. Laurance and wife Sarah of Medford, OR; sister, Joanie Orr of Pleasanton, CA; brother, Dick Orr of Canyonville, OR; Dave Orr of Tucson, AZ and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
