David Wayne Sexton, 62, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. David was born in Wayne County on November 30, 1960 to the late Alfred Eli Sexton and Mavis Marie Worley Sexton.
David is survived by his wife, Linda Broughton Sexton; son, John William Blackman, Jr. and wife Megan of Four Oaks; daughter, Kelly Anne Higgins of Smithfield; grandchildren, Erik Higgins, Connor Higgins, Justin Lucas, Jayden Blackman, and Maverick Blackman; sister, Panis Yvonne Braswell of Princeton and several other family and friends.
David was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. David worked as a lineman for over 35 years. While not working, he enjoyed playing guitar, working on cars, and riding his motorcycle. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Steve Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Gurley, Mark Gregory, Timothy Milligan, Austin Matthews, Chris Sullivan, William Hayes, Brad Egloff, and Lawrence White.
