Debra Lynn Barbour Malarchik, 62, of Kenly passed away on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at UNC Health Wayne. She was born in Johnston County on August 10, 1962 to the late Sherwood Arthur Barbour and Linda Welsh Barbour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Barbour.
Debra had one sibling, Michael Barbour. Debra married her husband David Malarchik on August 29, 1993. Together they welcomed their pride and joy, Drew, on September 7, 1993. One of Debra’s most joyous and memorable occasions was the day Drew married Miranda. Debra was a manager at both Hardees and Holiday Inn until she began working in advertisement at local newspapers. Debra had managed several properties to include Dellwood apartments for the past 10 years where she made several friends. Debra loved all animals especially her dog, Domino and cat, Dell as well as her granddog, Maverick. She cherished her lifelong friendships with Sylvia Rackley, Judy Gooding, Sheila Crocker & Hope DeHart. Debra was a very tenacious and strong willed woman. She enjoyed collecting knickknacks, doing puzzles and spending time with her friends and family. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Susan G. Koman foundation.
She is survived by her husband, David Andrew Malarchik; son, David Andrew (Drew) Malarchik II and wife Miranda; Uncle, Paige Welsh and wife Mary Ellen, and best friends, Sheila Crocker, Judy Gooding, Hope DeHart and Sylvia Rackley.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
The funeral will be held in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 6:00 pm with the Pastor Sylvia Rackley officiating.
A family burial will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:00 am at Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church.
