DeWitt Bryan Daughtry

    DeWitt Bryan Daughtry, 87, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Wake Med in Raleigh.

    DeWitt was born in 1937 in Sampson County, NC to the late Ethra and Nell Sasser Daughtry. He was a graduate of Halls High School.

    He was preceded in death by his brother Lynnwood Daughtry. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith Jernigan Daughtry; sons: Michael Bryan Daughtry, Sr. and R. Stuart Daughtry; grandsons: Michael Bryan Daughtry, Jr. and Mikey McFall; granddaughters: Ashley Warren (Jason), Samantha Daughtry and Erica Daughtry; great grandsons: Lane Warren and Brooks Warren; and great granddaughter, Ellie Riddle.

    DeWitt was a member of Shady Grove OFWB Church where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. He attended faithfully. While living in Virginia, DeWitt was an Ordained Deacon and served on many committees at Ox Hill Baptist Church.

    DeWitt worked for 32 years with McCrory Stores. Beginning in Fayetteville, North Carolina as a stock boy and working his way up to District Manager of the Washington D.C. and Virginia District Area. He won many awards for his accomplishments in sales. After retirement, he and Judy moved back to North Carolina where he became a salesperson with Belk in Dunn. He loved meeting people and talking with them.

    DeWitt enjoyed being outside and working in his garden and yard. He spent many hours reading from his laptop and watching the sports and news channels on television. His main enjoyment was his family. He spent many hours at their sporting events and dance classes. He and Judy also loved traveling together and were able to see many other countries over the years. He especially loved seeing the Holy Land. DeWitt was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

    The family will receive friends at Shady Grove OFWB Church on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM. The Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 2:30 PM. He will be laid to rest at Shady Grove OFWB Church Cemetery.
