Selma – Donald Hugh Jones, age 78, passed away after a period of declining health on Friday February 4, 2022 at Wilson Medical Center. He was born on August 20, 1943 to the late Parson Jones and Octavia Thorne Jones. In addition to his mother and father, he is also preceded in death by brothers, Orville, Derward, Kenneth, Nelson, Eardith and Franklin Jones; sister, Joyce Davis.
A graveside service will be conducted in Selma Memorial Gardens on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at 11 am with Rev. David Sutphin officiating.
Mr. Jones is survived by wife of 55 years, Joyce Wellons Jones of the home; son, Gary Jones of Chapel Hill; Angela Mayo and husband Dalton of Winterville; brother, Dewey Jones; sister, Laverne Davis; grandchildren, Caitlyn Mayo, Haley Mayo and Dexter Jones.
Mr. Jones enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
