Donna Minor Brinkley, 68, of Four Oaks, NC, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Donna was born on July 13, 1953, to the late Bryant and Alma Minor of Butner, NC.
After graduating Valedictorian from South Granville High School in 1971, she went on to Wingate College and Appalachian State University, graduating in 1975 with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting. After graduation, Donna worked for Northern Telecom, GTE, Chapel Hill/Carrboro Public Schools and retired in 2016 from Orange County Schools as the Chief Finance Officer. Donna met Glenn Brinkley and they wed in 1979, going on to have three children, Nicholas, Bryan, and Nathan.
Donna’s passion was her family. Early on her husband and three boys, then later in life her grandchildren. Whether she was running her boys to ball practice, taking pictures of the hunting and fishing exploits, or entertaining her grandchildren by the pool, she loved every minute of it. When she could get away, you could find her and Glenn at the beach. We will miss her greatly.
Donna is survived by her husband of 43 years, Glenn Brinkley and sons; Nick and wife Laura of Apex, Bryan and wife Beth of Wake Forrest, and Nathan of Raleigh; brothers, Larry and wife Donna, Tim and wife Gloria; and grandchildren Madison, Logan, Cameron, and William.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Research Institute in Donna’s honor. There will be a small private celebration of her life on March 12, 2022.
