Donnie Eugene Rogers

    Donnie Eugene Rogers, 77, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Donnie was born in Wilson County on July 4, 1945 to the late Tommy Hubert Rogers and Lida Hales Rogers. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his sister, Candace Rogers Singleton.

    Donnie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gwendolyn Braswell Rogers; daughters, Heather Rogers of Durham, Heidi Leonard of Rosewood; grandchildren, Coleman Bragg, Kaden Leonard, Aria Leonard, Amelia Leonard; brothers, Benjamin Rogers and wife Betty of Wilson, Will Rogers and wife Sherrie of Goldsboro; sister, Larue Tart and husband John II of Grantham.

    Donnie graduated from Princeton High School in 1965 where he received the superlative award for most talented. After high school, he proudly served his county in the US Army from 1966-1968. When he got honorably discharged from the Army, he went to Wayne Community College where he got his associates degree in Architect Design. He worked as an architect all his life. He was a faithful member of Princeton Church of God for several years. He enjoyed playing his guitar in several groups and in the church choir. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, they were the apple of his eye. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

    The funeral service will be held at 2:30PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Princeton Church of God with Reverend Matthew Cornett and Allen Strickland officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00PM – 2:30PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Princeton Church of God. The burial with military honors will follow in the Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

    Serving as pallbearers will be Coleman Bragg, Kaden Leonard, Chris Cox, Jeremy Price, John Tart II, and Brooks Rogers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Roy Woodard, Jimmie Thompson, Carlton Winstead, and Larry Anderson.

    A special thank you to the Community Care Home Health and Hospice staff for all the continued care these last few months.
