Selma – Doris Jean Hastings Sutton, age 78 was born to the late William Henry Hastings and Beatrice Dobbins Hastings on June 11, 1944 in Selma, NC. Doris took her rest from this life on March 29, 2023.
Doris was a secretary for the Department of Social Services for 22 years. During this time, she received several awards and certificates for her faithful service and great accomplishments as a secretary. Doris was also an ordained Pastor. She loved to share the Word of God and most of all she loved to pray. Doris’s hearts desire was to see all that didn’t know Jesus come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
Doris was married to the late Calvin Sutton Jr. and to this marriage they were blessed with five children.
A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Selma, 905. N Webb St.
Doris leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Laura Corley of Knightdale, son, Calvin Sutton III (Darnell) of Baltimore, MD, son-in-law, Claerance Smith; sisters-in-law, France McClaine, Pam Sutton, and Teresa George (Calvin), eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
