Doris Marie Howell Freeman

    Doris Marie Howell Freeman, 93, passed away at Springbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clayton on Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born in Johnston County on May 10, 1931 to the late Atlas Dewitt Howell and Catherine Norris Howell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Catherine Krumlauf; grandchildren, Donnie Nelson, Jason Starling, Russell Parker and J.D. Shirley; great grandchild, Chaos Causin; great great grandchild, Eli Brennenstuhl and her long-time life partner, Boyce “Toad” Rains.

    She is survived by sons, Edward Thomas Freeman, Jr. (Tammy) of Pikeville and Howard Dee Freeman (Penny) of Princeton; son-in-law, Mike Krumlauf of Rockbridge, Ohio; daughters, Bettie Anne Nelson (Dana) of Morgan Hill, Ca., Diana Freeman (Don Falk) of Princeton, Mona F. Sears (Larry) of WA. State, Carol Jean Starling of Kenly, Judy Shirley (Gary) of Wilson; sisters, Jean Parker (Carl) of Newport News, Va., Shirley Ann Wimmer (Bob) of Southern Pines, and Catherine Childs (Rick) of Newport News, Va.; 33 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

    The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

    The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations. Reverend Dwayne Batten will be officiating. A private burial will take place in Princeton Cemetery.
