Dorothy Jones “Dot” Moore

    Dorothy Jones “Dot” Moore, age 80, died Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2023 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born May 30, 1943 in St. John’s Newfoundland to the late Earl Edward and Agnes Mary Janes Jones, she was the widow of James Work Moore, who died February 26, 1985.

    Dot was a graduate of Smithfield High School and worked for many years as a teacher’s aid in both Johnston and Wake counties. She was also a member of the Rolesville Baptist Church for many years.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am just prior to the service and at other times at the home of her brother, Buddy Jones, 201 East Goldsboro Street, Micro. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Zebulon Town Cemetery.

    Surviving are her sons, James W. Moore, Jr and his wife Kim of Doylestown, PA and Mark G. Moore and his wife Margaret of Monroe, brother, Buddy Jones and his wife Bonnie of Micro; sisters, Edna Johnson, Theresa Jones Pulley, Rose Earp and her husband Tim and Shelia Jones and her friend Jeffrey McBarron all of Micro, Betty Worley and her husband Johnny of West Jefferson and Carol Debnam and her husband Ed of Bunn; two grandsons, Carter Moore and Eli Moore and her canine companion, Maggie.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hinnant Outreach Center, PO Box 367, Micro, NC 27555.

    1. So sorry to hear about Dot. She was always so nice and had always had a smile on her face. I hadn’t seen her in years, the last time was in a consignment shop, where we talked and caught up a bit. Prayers for her sons and family. May God comfort you with his love and strength.
