Dwight Cornelius Grant, age 81, passed away October 21st, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Dwight was born January 7th, 1943 to the late Leonard L. and Ethel Whitley Grant of Smithfield. He spent most of his early life engaging with the community of Brogden. Mostly all of those who knew Dwight, through the years, knew how to accept him and allow him to be “Dwight.” Whether it was patrolling the community on his motorcycle or answering the call when the pager would go off, Dwight’s heart was always in the right place.
Dwight has now taken his rightful place around the table and rejoined his family. In addition to his parents, “Big Brothers” Glenwood W. Grant, Charles L. Grant and “Little Sister” Annie Laura Hardee are all together again where all is perfect and complete. Dwight leaves behind nieces and nephews but the memories carry and live on within all of us that knew Dwight.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Tee’s Chapel FWB Church Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers, nurses and staff of both the Meadowview and SECU Hospice House communities. The love, support and care given for Uncle Dwight was most greatly appreciated.
