Coats, NC: Mr. Edison Cleveland Byrd, age 96, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Golden Years Nursing Center in Falcon, NC, surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30PM-Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats, NC. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Angier, NC.

Mr. Byrd was born in Harnett County, NC, to the late Willie Green Byrd and Minnie Williams Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ryan Byrd, sons, Earl Byrd and Don Byrd, grandson, Jason Cartwright, and siblings, Edna Hargis, Rosa Byrd, Retha Arrington, Marvin Byrd, Alice Parrish, Callie Fish, Raeford Byrd, Fred Byrd, and Mavor Gregory. Mr. Byrd was a retired farmer and cared for the land he loved. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising animals. Mr. Byrd never met a stranger, and will be missed.

Survivors include his children, Joan Tart and husband, Billy, William C. Byrd and wife, Deborah, Gale Turlington, and husband, Alex, and Tony A. Byrd; daughter-in-law, Joan Byrd; grandchildren, Jason Byrd and wife, Luvi, Jessica Trembly, Jennifer Duncan and husband, Trey, Jonathan Tart and wife, Stefanie, Julie Anzaldua and husband, Aaron, Daniel Mahboub, Andrea Turlington, and Zachary Turlington, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
