Edith Taylor Stanley

Edith Taylor Stanley, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 10, 1953, in Kinston, NC, Edith was the oldest daughter of the late Lynwood and Mariza Taylor.

Through her gentle kindness, compassion, and selfless love for others, she cared for many in her 33-year career as an in-home healthcare worker and was a certified CNA. She was also a friend and adoptive mother of many others. When she was not helping others, she was tending to her roses and other outside plants around her home.

Edith was preceded in death by her late husband of 12 years, Roger Clarence Stanley Sr., and her parents, Lynwood and Mariza Taylor.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her three sons, Phillip, Justin, and David Wayne. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Natalie and David’s significant other, Jessica. Edith had five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Dawson, Cameron, Peyton, and Abby. She also had two great-grandchildren, Atticus and Micah.

A visitation for Edith Stanley and her family will be held at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All friends are invited to pay their respects.
