    Selma – Edward Gerald Wiggs, age 68, went Home to Glory on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield. Born, April 1, 1956, in Wilson County, he was a son of the late Washington Lindberg Wiggs and Erma Lee Stancil Wiggs. He is preceded in death by his beloved dog Tiger.

    Gerald worked at several places around Johnston County including; Godwin’s Supermarket, Turner Equipment, Town Market and Food World. He was a gifted cook and baker; he loved cooking and baking cakes. Gerald was especially known for his pineapple cake and black walnut cake. He was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God. Gerald served for over 40 years as choir director followed by many more years as associate pastor and other positions in the Wilson’s Mills Church of God. He also loved music and had a talent for playing the piano and the organ in church. He also enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was a loving husband for 27 years, brother, and loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews whom were very special to him. Gerald will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

    Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Wilson’s Mills Church of God, followed by the burial in the Fannie Edwards Cemetery in Kenly. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Wilson’s Mills Church of God.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Dava Core Wiggs, sisters; Janice Marie Jones (Randy) of Princeton, Vickie Lynn Johnson (Ricky) of Pine Level, sister-in-law, Teresa Matthews (Kevin) of Parkton; aunts and uncles, Ken Stancil (Kim) of Kenly, Wanda Wilson (Keith) of Randleman, close cousin/brother, Greg Lane of Micro, many nieces and nephews, as well as his dog Binx.

    The family will also receive visitors at the home of Janice and Randy Jones at other times at 899 Evans Road, Princeton, NC, 27569.

    The family would like to offer a special thanks to the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield for all their loving care, as well as Mark and Robin as well as all the staff at UNC Johnston Health Clayton.
