    Effie Adams Beasley, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 20, 2022. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday, September 23, 2022 at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church, 343 Woods Crossroads Road, Benson, N.C. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Johnson. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM prior to the service.

    Effie was born on November 25, 1928 in Benson, NC to the late Thomas F.  and Mary “Ila” D. Adams. The oldest of three children. She graduated from Meadow High School in June 1947 as Salutatorian of her class and attended Kings Business College in Raleigh, NC.  Her first job was with the law firm Abel, Shepard & Wood in Smithfield, N.C.

    In the early 1950’s she worked for the Town of Benson as Assistant Town Clerk and Deputy Court Clerk under Ed Johnson, Mayor.  Effie married the late Melvin A Beasley in 1953 in Benson, NC. They had one child. In 1960 Effie and her family moved to Fayetteville, N.C. where Effie worked for Tart’s TV, Furniture and Appliance Company for 30 years.

    After living in the same home for 55 years, Effie and her husband moved to The Carolina Inn in 2015. Effie lost her husband in January 2016 but continued living at The Carolina Inn. In June 2018 she decided to move to her son’s home and spend her remaining years near Lake Norman, enjoying the boats and birds and her family.

    Effie’s faith has played a central role in her life from an early age. Her parents were charter members of Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church, Benson, NC. It was there she began her relationship with the Lord. Melvin and Effie were founding members of Fayetteville Advent Christian Church in Fayetteville, NC, where they remained devoted members for over 60 years. Effie served as Church Clerk, and Treasurer for Adult Sunday School for many of those years. She was also taught Sunday School. Effie was a member of the WHFM Society, where she served as Treasurer. Even in her later years, after moving away from Fayetteville, Effie stayed connected to Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church through weekly their online services, and she attended in-person as much as she could when visiting family.

    Effie lived her life by the words of Maya Angelo: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”  Effie was a happy, beautiful soul who shared her wisdom with others and treated everyone with kindness.

    Effie is preceded in death by her parents Thomas F Adams and Ila D Adams, as well as her husband Melvin A. Beasley. She is survived by her son Randy M. Beasley and his wife Michelle, two grandchildren Lauren A. Perkins, and Zachary A. Beasley of Charlotte and two great grandsons Hayden and Dylan Perkins.  She is also survived by her two sisters Ethel A. Warren, and Gloria A. Denning and her husband Roy, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.

    Effie would like to share a special thanks to her caregiver, Cheryl Hicks of Home Instead. Effie enjoyed her companionship, walks, completing puzzles and chair aerobics with Cheryl over the last four years.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church, 343 Woods Crossroads Road, Benson, N.C.  27504 or Project Not Forgotten, Inc., 121 East Broad Street, Dunn, NC  28334.  Project Not Forgotten supplies flowers to 1700+ nursing home residents in 25 facilities throughout 5 counties.
