Ellen Parker Allen, 91, of Columbus, GA passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Dadeville Health Care Center in Dadeville, AL. The family will hold a private graveside celebration at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 9 a.m. Final arrangements are being handled through Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus.
Ellen was born on March 25, 1932 in the Seventy-First Township of Cumberland County, NC to Wright Parker and Alma Ellen Long Parker. For many years, she attended Selma Baptist Church where she was involved in many ministries including Women’s Missions, working in the nursery, and singing in the choir. She loved to cook and was well-known for her famous homemade biscuits. Ellen married the love of her life, Hubert Ray Allen, and together they raised a beautiful family. She greatly enjoyed the special times she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ellen will be missed by her family and friends, but the memory of her feisty spirit will endure.
Other than her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her loving and dedicated husband of over 54 years Hubert Ray Allen and daughter Cindy Ethridge. Survivors include her daughters Debbie Allen of Columbus, GA and Jenny Allen (Greg Mikell) of Pensacola, FL; son-in-law David Ethridge of Andrews, SC; grandchildren Ashley (Tom) McKenna, Warren (Carolina) Cooper, III, David (Breann) Ethridge, Jr., Leslie (Tony) Barnes, Dylan (Brittney) Mikell, and Merida Mikell; and great-grandchildren Ian, Mara, Katie, Patrick, Nicholas, Emily, Parker, and Landon.
