Smithfield – Emily Denise Hockaday Vazquez, age 32, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wayne County on August 8, 1993.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan Vazquez of Smithfield; son, Hayden Vazquez of the home; daughter, Camila Vazquez of the home; father, Charles Hockaday (April) of Goldsboro; mother, Carolyn Denise Bass (Richard) Pine Level; grandparents, Elton and Brenda Allen of Pine Level; sisters, Ashlynn Hockaday of Goldsboro, Carley Bass of Pine Level; brothers, Andrew Hockaday of Goldsboro, Joshua Hockaday (Jessica) of Sanford; nephews, Anthony and Theo Hockaday; many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Emily enjoyed working in her garden and admired flowers and plants. She also loved to sing all kinds of music.
