Emily Langston Morgan

CLAYTON – Emily Langston Morgan, age 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House of UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. She passed peacefully after enduring breast cancer with strength and grace.
Born in Smithfield on June 6, 1963, Emily grew up in the Cleveland community and graduated from Clayton High School. She generously volunteered her time through church, PTA, and local community services, building life-long relationships through these acts.
Emily was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful presence in the lives of those who knew her. She was married to her high school sweetheart, the late Luby Dean Morgan, for nearly 43 years—a marriage built on faith, love, and unwavering devotion. In passing, Emily now joins Luby in heaven, reunited after a lifetime spent side by side.
Emily’s life was centered around God and her family. She carried a gentle strength, a caring heart, and a steadfast faith that guided her through every season of life. Her love was shown through constant prayer, service, and unconditional support of those around her. She found joy in attending Bible Study Fellowship, being present with her family, sharing laughter with her grandchildren, and dinner dates with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the family she so deeply loved and the light she brought to all those around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Rex Langston. She is survived by her loving mother, Lois Williford Langston; her daughter Erica Morgan Cook (Bernard); her son Lance Dean Morgan; her daughter Arianna Morgan Thompson (Brandon); and her cherished grandchildren, Jeremiah Joseph and Ethan Morgan Cook. She is also survived by her sister Jennifer Bjorling (Carl), her brothers Jeff Langston (Joy) and Brent Langston (Jennifer), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services honoring Emily’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 South Pollock Street, Selma, NC 27576. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Those wishing to honor her memory may do so with flowers, or through a memorial contribution to the SECU Hospice House of UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, (Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577 Attn: Hospice Fund) whose exceptional care, compassion, and comfort meant so much to Emily and her family.
