Birth Date: 05/12/1944
Deceased Date: 07/04/2023
Ernest Coy Anthony Jr., left this world on July 4, 2023 at the age of 79. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. He was born on May 12, 1944 to the late Ernest Coy Anthony, Sr. and Lucy Faye Whitaker Wrenn in Surry County.
Ernest was a member of Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Thomasville, N.C. He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service which consisted of both active and reserve duty. He retired from PPG Industries in Lexington and transitioned into a consultant role for PPG where he spent many years overseas in the Orient. Our dad was also a volunteer firefighter with the Silver Valley Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed fishing, beach music, tinkering with cars and hot rods and even being an occasional prankster. He was a kind man who was always there for his family and close friends. He would drop what he was doing to help someone in need.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Thomasville, N.C. He will be laid to rest with a military graveside funeral on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilson’s Mills cemetery, N.C. In retirement, we rarely saw our dad “dress up” so we ask that everyone come in casual attire and be prepared to share lots of memories.
He is survived by his daughter, Chrissie Twisdale (Jefferson) of Clayton; son, Timothy Anthony (Jolene) of Denton, grandchildren, Tyler, Blayton, Zoey, Collin, Thomas, Harrison and Bryce.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church, 1793 Tower Road, Thomasville, NC 27360.
