Eunice Mae Hooks

Eunice Mae Parrish Hooks died and went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 25, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jr. Hooks (RJ); daughter, Teresa Lynn; siblings, Estelle Rains, Ruth Powell, Bill Parrish, Melvin Parrish, Elton Parrish, Evelyn Jones and Junior Parrish.

She was born in Smithfield, NC on July 25, 1935 to Eddie and Effie Parrish. Eunice was the fourth of seven children.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Friday May 29, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel following the visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Kenly cemetery.

Eunice worked in various occupations during her life. From farming to interior design and decoration. Her last occupation and her proudest, was owning her own successful drapery and design business. She also worked as an organist and pianist at various churches in the area. In her later years, if she saw a piano in a room she would sit down and strike up a note.

Eunice would tell you she had a blessed life, but her greatest joy was her husband, RJ, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Hooks and his fiancée Jacquie; Wanda Jones and husband Ray; Tim Hooks and fiancée Evelyn Honse; Chris Hooks; Sandra Godwin; she was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Harmony Place for their kindness and care for Eunice during her final weeks.
