Kenly- Evan Briscoe Balazsi, 70, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born Johnston County on January 30, 1954, he was son to Joseph Balazsi and Edith Briscoe Balazsi.
Evan was a member at Smithfield First PH Church, where his spirit shone brightly among the congregation. Evan’s work ethic was unmatched. He dedicated himself to his job, always going the extra mile to provide for his family. Even when he faced the daunting challenge of battling cancer, his spirit never wavered.
Even as he faced the formidable challenge of cancer, Evan refused to let it define him. His grandsons were the center of his universe, their laughter and energy breathing life into his days. No matter how he felt, he never missed a fishing trip or a ball game, always determined to create lasting memories. Each cast of the line was a moment shared, each cheer from the bleachers, a testament to his love.
Evan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Finn Balazsi; his son, Jonathan Balazsi and wife, Jessica; his grandsons, Nathan Balazsi and Landon Balazsi; his mother, Edith Balazsi; his brother, Joseph Balazsi and wife, JoAnn of Pinetops; his special sister-in-law’s and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Evan was preceded in death by his brothers, Julian and Jimmy Balazsi.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crocker Family Cemetery, 3065 Crockers Nub Road, Kenly, NC 27542. The family will receive friends following the service.
