Kenly – Frances Edwards Radford, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on February 1, 1934 to the late Franklin Jackson Edwards and Ida Hatcher Edwards. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Wilton “Bill” Radford; sisters, Hilda Taylor, and Louise Sutton.
The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Monday January 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM following the visitation. Burial will follow in Crocker Cemetery following the service.
She is survived by her son, Eugene Radford of Garner; daughter, Debbie R. Green, and husband Staley of Charlotte; granddaughter, Kelsey Green of Charlotte; grandson, Brandon Green of Columbia, SC; nephew, Russ Taylor as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Frances was a longtime member of Rains Cross Roads FWB Church in Kenly and served with the women’s auxiliary and was a clerk of the church. She also held many volunteer positions in her community. In her spare time, she loved tending to her roses and arranging flowers for friends and family. She was also an award-winning cook and loved sewing knitting, crocheting, and making clothes.
