Angier, NC: Mr. Gary Keith Sorrell, age 78, of Zack’s Mill Road passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. Officiating will be Rev. Wesley Taylor. Family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home.
Mr. Sorrell was born on July 2, 1945 in Harnett County to the late Howard Lentis and Maude Opal Penny Sorrell. He was preceded in death by sister, Helen Stephenson; brothers, Billy Sorrell, Don Sorrell, Joe Sorrell, and H. L. Sorrell. Mr. Sorrell retired from farming and painting. He was a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson for 58 years, and served on the Board of Directors. Mr. Sorrell was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the US Army. He was a member of the 50-210 Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Sorrell was a member of the Centennial Hunting Club in Potecasi, NC.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Linda B. Sorrell; daughter, Yvette Davis and husband, Anthony of Clayton; step-daughters, Sherri Mann and husband, Jerry of Benson, Shannon Rowland of Raleigh; step-son, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Maren of Fuquay; grandsons, Bryant Christian, Colby Keith, and Kyle Anthony; step-grandchildren, Brandi, Dillon, Brett, Christopher, Hunter, Amy, Keanna, Dakota, Makayla, Jayden and Jaxson; step great-grandchildren, Malikah, and Camden; sisters, Betty Sorrell of Angier, and Opal Coats and husband, James of Benson; several special nieces and nephews.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the UNC Johnston Home Health and Hospice, P. O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
