Smithfield, NC: Mr. Gary Layton Blackmon, age 68, of Hill Road passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Revs. Wayne Dunn and Steven Campbell. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Meadow.
Mr. Blackmon was born on December 13, 1953 in Johnston County, NC to the late Bobby Layton and Clara Lee Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon worked in heavy equipment for over 50 years and retired as a Grade Foreman with Wellons Construction. He was a former member of the Blackmon’s Crossroads Fire Department. Mr. Blackmon enjoyed farming, tractors, fishing, hunting, helping others and spending time with his family. His most precious jewels were his three four-legged girls, Bella, Macy and Lillie. Mr. Blackmon was a member of Lee’s Union Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks.
Surviving include his wife of 23 years, Linda B. Blackmon; children, Shane Blackmon, Traci B. Boyette and husband, Andrew, Tori Evans Parrish and fiancé, Chris Dove, Amber Griffin and husband, John, Ashley Deans; grandchildren, Rebecca Johnson, Anthony Parrish, Madison Rhodes, Kendra Parrish, Jaxson Jones; sister, Diane B. Godwin and husband, Philip; nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
