Coats, NC – Mrs. Geraldine “Gerri” S. Honeycutt, age 101, passed away at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM-Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats, NC. Visitation will be held from 9:45AM-10:45AM prior to the service and other times at her home. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC.
She was the daughter of the late David C. Stephenson and China S. Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Rupert N. Honeycutt, son Dan C. Honeycutt, Sr., sisters, Catherine Stephenson, Joyce S. Broadwell, Jane S. Avery and a stepmother Betsy R. Stephenson.
She grew up on a farm in Johnston County and after graduating from Cleveland High School and King’s Business College she chose banking as a career. Gerri worked with First Citizens Bank for 31 years retiring as a Vice-President. After retirement she volunteered with Coats Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels for 11 years, and served as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors. She also volunteered with the Coats Museum and was very active in the Coats Woman’s Club, being selected as Woman of the Year twice. She was also inducted into the Coats Hall of Fame in 2021. She attended Coats Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie H. Turlington and husband Kent; four grandchildren, Kyle Turlington and wife Lucia, Curt Honeycutt and wife Ashley, Kathryn T. McDaniel and husband Justin, and Lance Honeycutt and wife Lauren, four great-grandchildren, Luke Turlington, Lane Honeycutt, Sloan Honeycutt, and Sutton McDaniel, expecting two additional great-grandchildren in the spring. She is also survived by a sister Betsy S. Olive.
