Glenda Matthews Lencall
Glenda Matthews Lencall, age 80 of Linden, passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
Born on February 6, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Matthews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Lencall and also her sisters, Lena House and Gladys Swain.
Glenda is survived by her loving family including sons, Jerry Lencall (wife Cathy), and Bruce Lencall; Daughters, Sandra Lencall (fiancé Glen Oldham), and Pam Johnson (husband Jeremy). Grandchildren: Brandon Lencall (Katherine), Haley Johnson (fiance’ Caleb Gardner), Dana Howell (Seth), Bridgett Moore, and Jeremy Johnson, Jr. Also great grandchildren: Gracie Howell, Karson Howell, Reagan Lencall, Onna Howell, Hadley Lencall, Cayden Lencall, and Tucker Howell. Additionally, her brothers, Bobby Matthews and Larry Matthews, and sisters, Betty Johnson, Ella Mae Pybus, JoAnne Hixon, and several nieces and nephews.
Glenda was a devoted Christian and attended Colliers Chapel Church in Linden. As a lifelong homemaker, she loved gardening and putting up vegetables every year. Her favorite hobby was quilting and enjoyed making beautiful quilts by hand.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin and include a visitation at 1:00 pm, Funeral at 2:00 pm, with burial following at a family cemetery in Linden.
